Pharmacy Server & Hardware Supply
Direct access to pharmacy-grade server stock, specified and built around properly configured RAID storage — so your dispensary and POS systems run on hardware built to stay up, not just start up.
A pharmacy's dispensary server is not a background detail — it's the machine every script, every patient record and every point-of-sale transaction ultimately depends on. When that server is under-specified, poorly configured, or built on whatever stock happened to be available at the time, the risk sits quietly in the background until the day a drive fails and the whole pharmacy feels it.
Pharmacy POS Direct maintains direct supplier relationships that give us genuine access to server stock even when the broader market is tight — the kind of allocation and priority that generic IT resellers simply don't have for pharmacy-specific hardware. Every server we supply is specified around the workload it will actually carry: dispensary software, point of sale, reporting and backup, running together, every trading day.
That starts with getting the storage layer right. Below is exactly how we build redundancy into every pharmacy server we supply.
Properly Specified RAID Storage
Every pharmacy server we supply is built on a RAID array matched to the workload — not a single drive quietly waiting to fail.
What Goes Into a Pharmacy Server Build
RAID 1, 5 or 10 Arrays
Storage configured to the workload — mirrored for simplicity, striped-and-mirrored for performance and resilience together.
Hot-Swappable Drives
Failed drives are replaced without powering down the server, so a single fault never means a dispensary outage.
ECC Memory
Error-correcting memory catches and corrects data corruption before it ever reaches your dispensary or POS software.
Redundant Power Supplies
Dual power supplies mean a single PSU failure — or a dodgy power board — doesn't take the server down.
UPS-Backed Uptime
Every server we supply is paired with UPS battery backup, covering short outages and safely shutting down through longer ones.
Remote Monitoring Built In
Disk health, temperature and array status are monitored continuously, so a warning sign is caught weeks before a failure.
Direct Access to Server Stock, Even When the Market Is Tight
Global component shortages and shipping delays have hit IT hardware hard in recent years — and pharmacies are usually last in line behind bigger corporate contracts. Pharmacy POS Direct's supplier relationships are built specifically around pharmacy-grade hardware, giving our clients priority allocation rather than a "we'll let you know when stock arrives" answer.
- Priority allocation on pharmacy-specified server hardware
- Spare drives and components held ready for rapid replacement
- Compatible with most existing dispensary and POS server environments
- Staged delivery for multi-site chemist group rollouts
Server & Hardware Supply FAQs
What RAID level do you recommend for a pharmacy dispensary server?
It depends on the workload, but RAID 10 is our most common recommendation for dispensary servers — it combines mirroring and striping, giving strong redundancy along with the read/write performance a busy pharmacy needs.
Can you guarantee server stock during hardware shortages?
No supplier can guarantee stock unconditionally, but our direct supplier relationships give Pharmacy POS Direct clients priority allocation over generic retail channels, and we hold spare components for rapid replacement.
Do you support servers we've already got, or only new hardware you supply?
Both. We regularly take over support of existing pharmacy servers, assess the current RAID configuration and redundancy, and recommend upgrades only where they genuinely reduce risk.
How long does a typical server replacement take?
For an existing client, a like-for-like server replacement is usually staged and completed outside trading hours, with data migrated and verified before the old server is decommissioned.
